Now granted, not everybody who shoots in that style is any of the above, many are. If I wanted to be overly artistic without any real skill, I’d eat this crap up, but I don’t live in the Burg, so I’ll stay away from that crap and focus on a real skill.
(Not really, I’m just jealous of people who have lucky photos that look kind of cool in a unique way. I should buy a Holga some day, or something)
i KNOW you ain’t trying to bust my chops here, ian. i own eight cameras (two are lomos) and each one has its place. i guess i could sit and photoshop the hell out of everything to give it “a look” though…

A coffee shop or anonymous lunch place is the urban equivalent of a porch or front yard: transitional space. Space that is neither private nor public. Space that eases the transition from bedroom or kitchen to work or street.
City apartments don’t have porches or yards but they have other kinds of annex. Wherever you go that is nearby, hospitable and anonymous: that is your front porch.
